NON PROMOTION INFORMATION

ü  All students should understand that lack of academic progress in the seventh and eighth grades may result in non-promotion.  Further, any student not promoted shall not participate in the 8th grade recognition ceremony.

Non-Promotion Procedures:

A.     Consideration

1.     Students will be considered for non-promotion if they are failing, receiving below 60%, in two or more full year components. (Refer to GRADING section)

2.     Members of the staff (teacher(s), guidance counselor, and administrator) may recommend consideration for non-promotion. Recommendations for consideration for non-promotion will be made no earlier than by the end of the second quarter and no later than following fourth quarter interim reports. Parents/guardians will be notified of any consideration for non-promotion at the time the recommendation is made, and invited to a meeting where a plan of action to address the student's needs will be developed.

B.     Review:  A final staffing review may be conducted during the fourth marking quarter. Parent/Guardians will be notified of the final decision.
